Day 19: Aldeanueva to la Calzada

Wonderful day of walking with Sonja from the Netherlands. Just really pleasant altogether.

The albergue tonight is really charming. There’s a resident dog and cat.

All these old buildings have these neat ceilings with exposed beams. Very cool.

We’re in a new province but you’d only know it because the street signs changed.

Day 18: Oliva to Aldeanueva

Miles: 14 ish

Great day walking on an old, decommissioned  rail line. No wading through cow shit for Mary today!

One of the pilgrims is calling it quits tomorrow. He fell and hurt his back. I feel bad for him, but he lives in the Netherlands and can easily come back and finish another time.

Tomorrow, I leave Extremadura and finally get to Castile and Leon. Things are a bit different there. Namely, with a coffee, you get a small treat. Nice!

Edit: late last night, I had a terrible dream. I lost all my stuff, even my walking clothes. I had to beg for help to get back on my feet. Awful.

Day 17: Galisteo to Oliva de Placencia

Miles 19

The walk today kinda felt like a slog  in the heat, but now that I’ve had a shower and some food, life is sweet again.

Had a fabulous hamburger and a cold one at the local bar.

Tomorrow, an easy day of 14 miles.

I almost forgot to say: over 400 km complete. Unbelievable. Tomorrow, we end at km marker 569.
