Finally, Hoi An…

I’ve been looking forward to seeing this town for a while!

Very touristy so far, that’s to be expected. Salespeople are very pushy, that’s ok too.

There was flooded streets earlier this week and it really hurt business. A lot of people cancelled reservations and went someplace else.

I like the place I’m staying. It’s just a really nice room in somebody’s house. About a mile from the old quarter so that will mean a pleasant walk there and back every day.

Marble Mountain was pretty. When I wouldn’t buy a souvenir, the ladies acted like I’d murdered their cats. Very amusing.😐

The motorcycle ride here was very rainy, but the driver was safe and had an actual helmet for me. It’s been a while since I was on a motorcycle. I’d forgotten how much I enjoy a ride.

I had a walk around and the streets are a mess. Lots of river mud everywhere. Hope the businesses recover soon.

See a fb post for pics

Much better day…

And I really needed it, so thanks, whomever is listening.

The rain stopped long enough for me to get a nice long walk in, a ride to a giant Buddha, I put my toes in the sand, had a yummy lunch, more treats, and an otherwise entirely satisfactory day.

I even got a little sunburn.

Off to Hoi An tomorrow. I let someone talk me into going there on the back of a motorcycle. I must have a soft spot for old Vietnamese guys!

I made an album on fb

Rain Rain Rain…

It’s raining!!

Sideways!!

It makes sightseeing difficult but not impossible. I  managed a nice visit to the Da Nang Museum and some quick pics of the Da Nang Cathedral.

The museum is pretty good. Da Nang is the country’s third largest city and very westernized. Most of the displays had some english, so that helped. One floor was a natural history exhibit, archaeology and the like. The second floor was war related. The third was all about local ethnic groups. Also there was an art exhibit. I liked it.

After lunch, a quick visit to the cathedral, which was only viewable on the outside. If I want to see the inside I’ll have to go to mass tomorrow lol.

I gave up after that and read for awhile. Tomorrow I’ll try to go to the beach for a little bit.

For pictures see my fb page.

😁

Another travel day…

Another town. Da Nang is looking good so far!

Had a great lunch after my train ride, then found the hostel in time to check in and still see a museum.

After a nice walk around, the rain picked up so I called it a day. Dinner and some chit chat with a gal from Portland rounded out my evening.

Here’s todays pictures

Our first glimpse of the ocean, I had a line behind me waiting to take pictures too

Soooooo……the site is buggy today. I’ll make a facebook post with the rest of the pictures 😣
