A travel day…

I read 3 books, drank lots of drinks, and spent up all my kuna. It was fun.

Found a great vegan place in Split. If I ever go back, I’ll eat there every day.

The hostel in Sarajevo is a little rough. That’s what you get for 10 bucks a night lol!

The old town square and most of the sights are close by, so that’s a plus.

Goodnight!

Split day 3…

Very uneventful day today.

Was feeling kinda grumpy. Nothing could possibly be wrong….I’m on vacation basically for goodness sakes!

So, I just kept to myself. Cleaned out and organized my bag, took some walks, drank a bunch of coffee, stayed out of the sun, found a thrift shop, bought a shirt, took a nap, and ate a healthy dinner.

There’s a spot in the the neighborhood where the locals have made a free pile. My donations of warmish clothing were snapped up, so I’m glad that they’ll be used. I hate throwing useful stuff in the garbage.

Tomorrow I move on to Sarajevo, the capitol of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The bus ride should be an easy 5 hours.

Bye for now!

Split day 2, and Trogir…

Started my day with a quick walk up the hill to Marjan park. It’s very easy, only just a bunch of easy stairs to climb. Imagine chirping birds, cool breezes, the smell of pine trees. A lot like eastern Oregon, actually. Beautiful view of the Adriatic and boats sailing everywhere.

Some coffee and then to find a way to get to Trogir.  There’s a city bus but I couldn’t find the stop. Poop. So, plan b, take an intercity bus. Marginally more expensive but air-conditioned.

Trogir was nice. Small, and sleepy on a Sunday, I walked around for 2 hours and that was plenty.

Caught a boat back. Why do I love a boat ride so much?

Time for ice cream and a new outfit. All my cold weather clothes are way too heavy now. I’ll set those free tomorrow.

Watched a movie and had a sandwich for dinner to finish my day.

Tomorrow it’s time to send some postcards and repack my bag. Only warm weather from here on 😁.

Happy Monday!

Lovely day in Split…

Had a nice sleep-in (until 8 lol), and relaxed with tea until 10. Nobody else was up at the hostel, so it was kinda like my own place for a while. Heaven!

I found a couple of podcasts about Split and walked around the old town. It was almost like a free walking tour? The streets were buzzing with tour groups. Eventually you just follow one to make walking easy lol.

Had some kind of spinach pie for lunch. For 10 kuna (less than 2 dollars) you can still get food here that’s yummy. The green market also has fresh produce for one dollar per pound, which is a great price anywhere. I bought some apricots? that were a little unripe. Still good, not very sweet.

The museum of ethnography was a way to get some shade and a/c. Along with the usual costumes, jewelry, and decoration stuff, the museum had an exhibit on tobacco and smoking. Kinda strange until you realize that the cigarette industry was important here for a long time. The museum itself is in the 1700 year old palace. That was neat.

I’d had enough crowds. After today’s ice cream cone,  I watched a movie and charged my phone at the hostel.

After 5, the town squares really empty out. It’s easy to walk then, so that’s what I did. Took A long walk, window shopped, and listened to music.

Some silly person let me talk politics with them, so that was a great way to end my day.

Very pleasant Saturday.
