May 25 viva la revolution

Another holiday, another very long walk. This time the cafes were open, and the Japanese garden. It was pleasant to walk the streets with no people.

Had a nice sit down with a beer and some fight club. Then dinner with Lucia from peru. The beer here is pretty legit. Had a great hamburger and fries too.

Tomorrow I’m in Colonia. Up pretty early for the ferry. Have to be there in line at 630 am. That’s early for me, these days.

Really felt like exercising today so I got as close to a hike as I could. Walking in the ecological park as far and as fast as I could. It was great. After I had a caramel filled, chocolate covered churro. Goddam delicious.

Read for a while and had a lovely nap. Another walk to buy some food that should last me the rest of the week. Finally found a close store that has food I like to buy, hummus and crap like that.

More reading and some dinner, beers and a movie.

Great day

May 23rd

Today was the day I tried hard to not have any plans. Bought my ticket for uruguay. Round trip cost me about 70, that includes a crappy lunch and a short guided tour. Not too bad.

Nothing else to report

May 22

Delightful Sunday, spent some of it on a boat. So that’s cool. The group was small, only 6 of us. The others are all from Sao Paolo. The guide was speaking Spanish to them, so they must have originally been from a Spanish speaking country.

It was nice to get away a bit. I do love this city tho. I’m taking back what I said about the dog crap. The guide said it used to be a lot worse. So I’m grateful for that.

My roommate is a PhD candidate from Rio. Her English is good enough for us to talk a bit about her life in Brazil.

I think I’ll go to uruguay after all. A covid test is no longer required. After that the issue is only the expense, which isn’t too much. I’ll find out tomorrow. Also the historical city is a unesco world heritage site.
