Last day in sf…

It started out a little chilly so I was justified in bringing a jacket on this trip. The desk lady talked me out of walking to the park so I got to ride the bus. One was going in my direction every 5 minutes. Very convenient. Then I went ahead and got off at the wrong stop anyway and had to walk a long way.

Golden gate park continues to amaze. Saw the things I wanted to see and then some. The Japanese garden was delightful. I love them because they are generally sorta small. You can see them without spending hours at it.

I decided I’d been to enough museums so I skipped the entirety of the rest of the days plan and just winged it.

So I got lots of steps in and lots of looking around done. I ended up walking all the way back to my place and saw a LOT. I shopped for a million dollar condo, visited an art studio, ate famous pizza and macarons, got sick on sweets, you get the picture. I talked myself out of a boat tour and am glad bc it started raining.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow I have time to kill before catching my flight home. Probably just do some walking around for a change.

Later

Another gorgeous day…

I’ve been extremely fortunate. The weather has been amazing. I’m even a little burnt

I found a walking tour! It was free, which I love. But. The guide was on a mission, some kind of political mission, a kind of mission which involved him kind of being preachy. But. I also got a nice walk in, and learned some factoids as well. Interesting way to spend a morning. After lunch, the modern art museum.

They had a Warhol and a bunch of surreal stuff, and a nice exhibit of German abstract paintings. Pretty typical modern art and I enjoyed it.

It’s Saturday so the financial district was dead. I ended up at a park that was hosting an event called Litquake. At the time I passed through, a woman was reading aloud a poem called ” I want to punch white people in the face.” It wasn’t a bad poem tbh.

I was hungry and wanted a sit down. Another disappointing meal. Glad I’m not here for the food.

It was wayyy too early to be in for the night, so I climbed some streets up to Nob Hill. SWANKY doesn’t cut it. Even the dogs looked rich. Nice architecture and a nice place to catch a sunset view.

Nothing else to report. I’ll have an active day tomorrow trying to see all of golden gate park in one day.

Night!

Lovely sunny friday…

I awoke predictably early and tried to sleep in hahahahaha haha. Anyway, after an eon, it was finally time for the free coffee. It was OK.

After a spectacular breakfast of meat sticks and coffee, I took a walk towards the civic center. It was nice. All the workers were already off the streets and there were only us tourists with our sensible shoes and our maps. The city hall was open and they let me in to look around. No tours because of covid, but I still enjoyed it anyway.

The asian art museum was pretty good. We sure are lucky in Eugene to have the university art museum. Appreciate it folks, because it has a lot of good stuff. The museum I saw today had a lot of Chinese stuff, not much else. On the lowest floor was all modern art, which I of course love.

I was drastically overclothed for the unbelievable weather. After losing half my garments and eating some lunch at the hostel, my genius mind thought that it would be a great idea to walk to fisherman’s wharf. However, I failed to realize that it is literally uphill, both ways, in the sun, and I am a vampire!

It was hot, and I got cooked, and the waterfront area is just as horrible as it always is. Also I got to watch several cars get burglarized. Don’t leave expensive bags in the back seats of cars, ok?

A bit further on, I found a nice shady spot to sit and listen to music and watch some swimmers. Very relaxing.

Also I forgot how hard the walk was and tried it again on the way back. Lol I’m dumb. So many hills.

When my feet started hurting I gave up and got the cable car.

Dinner was forgettable thai food.

It was a really nice day. Hope to have another one tomorrow.

Bye for now

It’s Thursday night…

And I’m in San Francisco. I went for a short jaunt in the neighborhood, and let’s just say the neighborhood didn’t want to be jaunted in. Kinda sketch. (edit: don’t just randomly walk down a dark street. I’m stupid.)

The hostel is pretty nice. Definitely been in worse. It’s quite close to the cable car line, so I’ll have to ride that tomorrow.

I guess I assumed that the kitchen would have dishes to eat out of but I forgot the covid. I’ll need to adjust my plans for consumption.

Tomorrow I’ll probably get up awfully early and walk to the park. The big one down here is 3 miles away, and has a bunch of interesting stuff to see.

I’m hoping for good weather. Fingers crossed!!

Goodnight for now.

😍😍😍😍
