April 5

Had a delightful day. Skipped the day trip and instead focused on having a nice day in town and having a few more budget dollars to spend on treating myself a little.

I knew I was going to be eating a lot of good stuff so I walked everywhere. No cheating with public transportation. Had the most magnificent apple tart before the museum opened and fantasy shopped at the ritzy arcade. Found a wonderful little watercolor for only 6000 pounds. Maybe next time.

Lunch was pretty good thai food at the new market I’d never been to before.

After 2 museums and a long walk I was done. Back to the hostel for dinner and some boob tube. Fox News was on soooooo nevermind the TV.

Last day tomorrow. Find something to do then get a covid test.

April 4th

Started my travel day with good coffee and a solid bowl of oatmeal. The train trip was 3 hours and just fine. Seeing my friends was great and they were so nice to have me and let me drink up all their coffee.

After checking in I went for a walk along the canal until I was tired. There’s a lidl close by to buy cheap groceries at so I’m set until Thursday.

I might take a little day trip tomorrow.

Sunday April 3

Discovered my new favorite coffee. It’s from Lidl, not a US retailer. Oof. Also I love some other stuff they have. I’m thinking about bringing some home.

Had a really nice, warmer, day out to Hebden Bridge. Its on the canal and has a fun Sunday market scene. Lots of food and dogs and too-loud music. I got a delicious empanada. Nice little day out.

The cheese board we put together was delightful. I could have destroyed all of it but I controlled myself with effort.

Then a nice walk in the neighborhood and a home cooked meal. Then some TV.

Really pleasant weekend and off to London again tomorrow.

Life is good

April 2

Had a lovely morning drinking lots of tea and coffee, then off to pick up a friend and get some yummy cheese at a local cheese shop in the next town. So good and the shop is so cute. Look forward a wine and cheese and chocolate tasting party, I’m guessing on the wine part.

Spent a while looking around downtown halifax. They’ve a great town square, basically, and some nice places to get out of the wind.

Tonight for dinner we had some tasty homemade lasagna and some nice chit-chat.

Very satisfactory day
