October 1

For the first time on this trip I felt really positive and enjoyed my sightseeing. What a great day.

The “pilgrimage” up the hill was amazing. I mean, yeah, I got sweaty and tired, but it felt good to go into the church and sit and think and kinda pray, I guess. I thought about mom and all. One altar had three random women crying, me being one of them, all together but not altogether about the same thing I’m sure. Anyhoo, great morning.

I freaking love this city.

I’m a hostel again and it’s looking good, except for a gal on a loooonnnggg phone call. Hopefully she’ll wrap it up before 11

Had a nice afternoon checking out the downtown area. All the covered walkways are amazing. So easy to window shop in the rain. Also the streets are so much emptier than Venice.

Took the day off from sightseeing. I would have done laundry but I can do it tomorrow in bologna for cheaper and easier. I’d be doing my washing as I go but at this hotel they get mad at you. I get it, some people get drippy water everywhere and ruin the floor and stuff.

Anyway I still got a lot of walking in. There’s a kind of circle you can walk that takes a couple of hours. I did it three times.

And then I ate a whole bag of chips for dinner. Balance, my friends, it’s all about Balance

Not much to share today but this…

Why the hell do the dudes in the Roman catholic church take apart their saints? FFS, people, why oh why, have you removed the skin, the larynx, the tongue, and the jawbone from your dear departed st Anthony and put them in little jars?!

They had a bunch of his stuff anyway, then they dug up the guy to get more.

So….750 YEARS LATER…THEY DO IT AGAIN!!! Leave the man in peace….

Freaking religion. Man, it’ll mess you up.
