Nice second day in Assisi. Saw the last of my things to see and got a long pointless walk in.
Off to Rome in the morning. I’ve not much planned. It’ll be my 4th time so I’ve seen a lot of the normal tourist stuff. Still looking forward to it, then going home on the 20th.
What an actually magical day. The weather is great, my allergies have calmed down a little, I’m learning a lot, and really enjoying the relaxed pace of this little city.
The walking tour happened and was great. I spent more than I ever have on a “free” tour but the guy was amazing. 3 nonstop hours of trivia, opinions, facts, and whatnot. The dude’s probably quite religious but didn’t preach.
Would highly recommend Assisi to almost anyone with a day or two. Lots to think about.
Had a last morning walk around that was very satisfying. My last impression of the city was a good one. It was cool and sunny.
Train trip was uneventful. I was lucky to get a window with a good view of a beautiful lake we went around.
Assisi is so calm and quiet. The main street is only just a few blocks. I get the impression that a lot of regular people live up here. Lots of nuns walking around eating ice cream, too. Assisi is a place that the devout pilgrimage to. Lots of hills to punish you so that’s good.
No markets to buy food from so I’ll have to eat at restaurants exclusively. Poo.
Well I had one last walking tour and slice of pizza here in Florence today. Watched a couple of movies and that’s about it. I’m sure ready to see a new town tomorrow.
There’s not much to do in assisi, but I’ll do it. Mostly walk around and see some gardens that there are, and two big churches too.
