Kelvingrove and the West end…

Was able to hang out with my roomies a bit this morning. Casey walked with me along the river until 1045, and Maria was all about the scenery at Glasgow university. It really does remind one of Hogwarts. The main buildings are fantastic.

My other big surprise was the kelvingrove gallery and museum. What a wonderful mix of random stuff. Hard to describe, really. They had a Dali, a van Gogh, and LOTS of impressionist paintings, some intriguing modern art, and even an architecture display. Would recommend.

The way back downtown wound through a neat bunch of neighborhood shops. Another West end attraction is the kelvingrove park. Delightful on such a sunny day.

The balance of the day I spent just walking.

Depending on the weather,  I’ll either go to Ayr tomorrow or the botanical gardens

😄

I’m in Glasgow…

And I’m liking it so far.

The hostel in Inverness had Netflix, and this morning me and Jean Claude van Damme spent some quality time together. Very nice.

The bus ride to Glasgow was uneventful.  This particular bus line serves snacks and drinks. This was amazing to me. The gal even came around twice.

My hostel in Glasgow is close to the main shopping street and the river. I’ll enjoy this city a lot, i think. Lots of shop windows to look in and a nice river path to walk on every night.

I’m going to have a proper sit down meal tomorrow, I think. I’m going to try some Scottish food, if such a thing exists.

Hope everyone’s Easter was good!

Saturday travel to Inverness…

I can see why people make this a day trip…theres not much to keep one busy here lol

I took several walks and did laundry. That is all.

Due to poor planning, I’ll not even see the Loch Ness. Oh well. Those that went say it’s no great loss. Inverness is a pretty, little, town…and I saw It!

On to Glasgow!

Stirling…

Ok, 3 castles in 10 days is too many lol

I still enjoyed it a lot. The tour guide was again phenomenal. The small military museum here was the best so far, very interesting to the average tourist who knows nothing of Scottish military tradition.

The town of Stirling is good for a walk around too. When the rain came I was ready to go, though. So that worked out just right.

After lunch and a nap, the sun came back out thank goodness. A walk down the far side of the castle in the Grassmarket area was pleasant enough to take me all the way to a shower and bedtime.

I’m off to Inverness tomorrow to see the Loch Ness monster….
