In many ways. The weather is delightfully cool and windy. So pleasant after all the smoke in the valley.
It’s also just plain neat. I can walk to everything worth seeing. Went on a free walking tour in a desperate attempt to stay awake. As always, when I miss a nights sleep on the plane I feel like I’m seeing through time.
After a terrible night due to some very polite but extremely inconsiderate kids, I went on the local free walking tour of the West End. I learned a bit and had a nice walk so that was great.
After a sit down, I rode the metro to the British Library. It’s a research library which is just as impressive in its way as the British Museum is.
The library has
A copy of the Magna Carta
At least 2 Gutenberg bibles
A collection of hand written Beatles lyrics by Paul, Ringo, and John
Hand written sheet music by Mozart
A 2nd century papyrus letter supposed to be written by an evangelist
Robert Scott’s diary of his expedition to the south pole where he describes his disappointment at getting there second after Amundsen
And more. Every item of it just as ridiculously awesome as the last.
Also the library had several temporary exhibits that aren’t too shabby either.
So all in all a great day. I walked, a lot, and saw a few cool things.
