Super delightful day…

So thankful for today. Finally some sun, and on the day I had picked to go to the amusement park.

Burned a hole in my credit card making final reservations, then had a lovely morning at a palace. Not too many big groups to torture me, and had a nice little picnic in a rose garden.

Off to Tivoli Gardens! I’d seen this place on a travel show when I was a kid. I don’t like rides, but the tour guide said to go anyway. This is correct. The grounds are really nice with lots of pretty, out-of-season flowers. Some kind of pantomime show happens every hour, and today was a kennel club show. Tons of amazing dogs to look at. I get now why parents take their kids to Disneyland. All the little ones were having such fun. I even found a small and creepy casino to spend a few bucks at. All in all, worth the expense. Bucket list item-check.

Off to Oslo tomorrow!

Very nice day…until it rained

Of course it rained!!! Lol, it’s just that my shoes got soaked, and it made my day a little less awesome.

Got a lot done. Before I burned out, I saw a famous cemetery, the gardens, two churches, did some souvenir shopping, and did another walking tour.

The place I’m staying at is a party hostel. Oh my, I don’t care much for it. I’ll be okay with moving on.

Tomorrow is my last day to see the sights. Hopefully not too much rain tomorrow!

Back to normal…

For being away from home anyway. Saw a lot today thankfully.

My morning walk was very quiet. The tourists don’t come out of their caves until 11:00, so I had the streets to myself mostly.

The design museum is great. Expensive but you get value for the ticket price. They had a super exhibit on Japanese design influences on the Danes, and another one on a fashion designer. I love textiles and clothes so that was especially cool.

After a rest, a walking tour. This time, Christiantown and the commune Christiania. It was about what I thought it would be. Lots of stoned kids and unemployed people. And tourists.

Went inside the Catholic church. It was nice but nothing too special.

Lovely rainy day

Had a nice sleep-in, and an ok breakfast at the hostel. This place doesn’t have a kitchen at all, and no place to store groceries. It makes saving money on food challenging.

Saw the national museum today. A lot has recently been redone and is great. The collection of bronze age stuff is especially good. It makes sense that the collection is so good, Copenhagen being a trading hub for 1000 years and all.

After 4 hours of being inside, I was ready to go to the waterfront and see the Little Mermaid. It was ok.

Way cooler was the waterfront area itself. Nice walking paths, beautiful statuary, the citadel, fountains, etc. Really nice.

On the way back I managed to find the 3Marble Church open. Wow. Very quiet, very well kept. It’s one of the state churches of Denmark so it’s in great shape.

That’s about it. Watched a couple of movies on Netflix. Thanks Crystal!!

Goodnight!
