It’s New Year’s Day…

……again.

Here’s my resolution: this year, for real this time, I WILL read the Silmarillion from cover to cover.

I mean it!!!

2022 is my year. I can feel it.

Happy New Year, my friends. Hope it’s a good one for you all 🥂🥂🥂

Edit: forgot to add my day. Here it is….

I had breakfast at Brails with some friends, took a long walk downtown, watched two great movies. The good, the bad, and the ugly, and once upon a time in the West

Last day in sf…

It started out a little chilly so I was justified in bringing a jacket on this trip. The desk lady talked me out of walking to the park so I got to ride the bus. One was going in my direction every 5 minutes. Very convenient. Then I went ahead and got off at the wrong stop anyway and had to walk a long way.

Golden gate park continues to amaze. Saw the things I wanted to see and then some. The Japanese garden was delightful. I love them because they are generally sorta small. You can see them without spending hours at it.

I decided I’d been to enough museums so I skipped the entirety of the rest of the days plan and just winged it.

So I got lots of steps in and lots of looking around done. I ended up walking all the way back to my place and saw a LOT. I shopped for a million dollar condo, visited an art studio, ate famous pizza and macarons, got sick on sweets, you get the picture. I talked myself out of a boat tour and am glad bc it started raining.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow I have time to kill before catching my flight home. Probably just do some walking around for a change.

Later

Another gorgeous day…

I’ve been extremely fortunate. The weather has been amazing. I’m even a little burnt

I found a walking tour! It was free, which I love. But. The guide was on a mission, some kind of political mission, a kind of mission which involved him kind of being preachy. But. I also got a nice walk in, and learned some factoids as well. Interesting way to spend a morning. After lunch, the modern art museum.

They had a Warhol and a bunch of surreal stuff, and a nice exhibit of German abstract paintings. Pretty typical modern art and I enjoyed it.

It’s Saturday so the financial district was dead. I ended up at a park that was hosting an event called Litquake. At the time I passed through, a woman was reading aloud a poem called ” I want to punch white people in the face.” It wasn’t a bad poem tbh.

I was hungry and wanted a sit down. Another disappointing meal. Glad I’m not here for the food.

It was wayyy too early to be in for the night, so I climbed some streets up to Nob Hill. SWANKY doesn’t cut it. Even the dogs looked rich. Nice architecture and a nice place to catch a sunset view.

Nothing else to report. I’ll have an active day tomorrow trying to see all of golden gate park in one day.

Night!
