Day 30: Easter Sunday in Santa Marta

Miles: 14

What a day! Such lovely weather for walking.

I happened to arrive in town in time for mass. I participated in the procession. Which involved going out into the parking lot and back. Very different from the extravaganza that is Salamanca or Zamora, but it cut straight to the heart somehow.

A dude in the congregation invited me to the after church fellowship, which involved beers and potato chips. I have to say that I think he fancies me, because he brought me chips and olives. Adios, mon amour, and gracias.

The albergue is incredible. So clean and new, and I’m with the French people I’ve been walking along with for weeks. I can’t understand everything they say, but my high school French is coming back. Bruno called us the Dream Team. I’d have to agree.

Nice path for walking today
This little church is actually pretty important. Pilgrims have been stopping here for centuries
